Premiere date set/Dominic Monaghan joins FF cast

Two major items of news have popped up regarding the new show Flash Forward.

The first is that a premiere date for the show has been set by ABC to be September 24, 2009. It will premiere at 8/7c at that time, and will be followed by the season premiere of Grey's Anatomy.

Secondly, E! has confirmed that actor Dominic Monaghan, most known for playing Charlie Pace on Lost and Merry in The Lord of the Rings has signed on to a main role on Flash Forward. It is unknown what character Monaghan will play, but it is expected that he will be on the main cast of the show.

Speculation for Monaghan's joining of Flash Forward began when he appeared in an advertisement as part of the ABC House ad campaign, in which actress Courtney Cox asked him "what did you see?" Though ABC attempted to keep which show Monaghan would be appearing in secret, the news soon leaked.

Personally, I am looking forward to seeing one of my favorite actors back on television. It's been two years since Charlie's been on Lost, and I'm glad that he'll be popping up in one of my soon-to-be favorite shows as well.

Flash Forward picked up by ABC

On May 8, 2009, ABC announced that Flash Forward, the much anticipated show of next year's fall lineup, had been picked up for a thirteen episode order by the network after a successful viewing of the episode "No More Good Days" by network executives. It is as yet unknown whether the thirteen episodes will encompass the entirety of the first season, or will be expanded into a longer season.

"No More Good Days" was written by David S. Goyer and Brannon Braga, both experienced television and film writers. Goyer will act as showrunner of Flash Forward, along with
Marc Guggenheim. Braga has removed himself from the day-to-day processes of the show, due to a conflict between FOX and ABC (Braga is a writer for the FOX series 24), though he will still remain as an executive producer, along with Vince Garadis, Jessika Goyer, Marc Guggenheim, and Raplh Vicinanza.

Even before the May 8 decision was officially made, ABC had already begun airing promotional spots for the episode during the commercial breaks of ABC's current science fiction juggernaut, Lost, which ABC hopes to replace with Flash Forward after the series' 2010 finish. The television spots feature random flashes of images that include a wedding, a funeral, a kangaroo in the middle of a roadway, and a large tornado. These images are followed by the on-screen question "What did you see?" In later promos, the voice-over states "Just because we saw these things doesn't mean they're going to happen."

Flash Forward will star Joseph Fiennes, Sonya Walger, John Cho, Jack Davenport, Courtney B. Vance, and Christine Woods. "No More Good Days" is expected to air in fall of 2009.
